The enormous success of the film Oppenheimer at the Hollywood Oscars fits nicely with our Gö Gravel visit to the Forum Wissen in Gottingen.

It was in Göttingen, Germany that the ´Father of the A-Bomb´ earned his doctorate in physics from the city´s university in 1927 under Max Born who had established a world leading physics department here.

The Forum Wissen (Knowledge Forum) is a new space situated in the old Zoology (hence the Sperm Whale) and Geology departments of Gö University and it comprises items from across the collections of the university.

We were taken on a tour where the concept of how knowledge is discovered, cared for, etc. was outlined by a cool guide. On display are the tools of science including wooden boxes with their contents and how and where from they were shipped from across the world to Gö. The Forum Wissen shows how science is cultivated and produced making it a place of curios and facts that go beyond the science and into the personal.

This was the third Gö Gravel culture trip, first we visited the underground spaces in Gö, then to see Hamlet, and we are open to ideas for the next.
